Georgia receives key messages from Turkish president during visit

The Georgian delegation, visiting Türkiye, received important messages from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who praised the country’s authorities for protecting national interests despite external pressure, Mariam Lashkhi, a member of the ruling party “Georgian Dream,” said.

The delegation, led by President Mikheil Kavelashvili, arrived in Türkiye on August 12 for an official visit. President Kavelashvili was received by his Turkish counterpart at the presidential palace. During the meeting, the two sides discussed regional and bilateral cooperation issues, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media. 

“We received important messages from the President of Türkiye. First of all, that the will of the people was expressed in terms of the elections. And he praised the authorities for, despite external pressure, protecting national interests,” Lashkhi said.

Lashkhi noted that "this was one of the firm and significant messages from the Turkish leader, whose top priority is ensuring peace in the region."

During the meeting, the sides also emphasised bilateral relations based on mutual respect and discussed further deepening these ties, including in the areas of the economy and interpersonal contacts, Lashkhi added.
