Georgia’s president congratulates Azerbaijan on Independence Day
The President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, has sent a formal congratulatory message to Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, highlighting what he described as the “strategic partnership” between the two neighbouring states.
In his message, Kavelashvili said the relationship between Georgia and Azerbaijan reflects both historical ties and a growing, forward-looking cooperation agenda, Azertag reports.
“The current strategic partnership between our countries represents a logical continuation of our longstanding historical ties,” Kavelashvili said, adding that Aliyev’s “highly productive state visit to Georgia” had given “significant impetus” to cooperation.
The Georgian president expressed confidence that continued collaboration would benefit both nations and contribute to broader regional stability.
“I am firmly convinced that cooperation grounded in good-neighbourly relations and a strong strategic partnership… will bring prosperity not only to our peoples but also will contribute to strengthening peace and stability throughout the region,” he said.
Kavelashvili also extended personal wishes to the Azerbaijani leader and the country’s population, stating: “I take the opportunity to convey my best wishes for your personal happiness and success… and for a peaceful and prosperous future for the friendly people of Azerbaijan.”
