Israel strikes rocket launcher in Khan Younis following Hamas attack
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has announced that Israeli military forces launched an attack on a rocket launcher located in Khan Younis, a city in southern Gaza.
The rocket launcher had been used to fire at the border town of Kissufim, Caliber.Az reports citing IDF.
In response, Israeli artillery struck the area from which the rockets were launched. Additionally, Israeli infantry units conducted a precision raid in the vicinity, discovering weapons and explosives in a building. The Israeli Navy also targeted and eliminated a group of Palestinian militants who posed a threat to the ground troops operating in the central part of the Gaza Strip.
The recent escalation began with a significant and deadly assault by Hamas on October 7, 2023. Militants from Hamas infiltrated Israeli territory from Gaza, resulting in numerous civilian casualties and the capture of over 240 hostages. Hamas claimed the attack was in retaliation for alleged Israeli aggression at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
In response, Israel imposed a total blockade on the Gaza Strip, home to around 2.3 million Palestinians, severely restricting access to essential resources and worsening the humanitarian crisis. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have conducted extensive airstrikes in Gaza and have targeted sites in Lebanon and Syria due to perceived threats. The conflict has expanded, with violence reported in the West Bank, further intensifying regional tensions.
