Azerbaijani president lays foundation stone, inaugurates key projects in Aghdam District
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, accompanied by his son Heydar Aliyev, marked a series of significant events in Aghdam district on September 19, reflecting the government's ongoing commitment to the restoration and development of liberated territories.
The day began with the foundation stone laying ceremony for the village of Eyvazkhanbeyli, a key part of the reconstruction plan for the region. The event was attended by President Aliyev, symbolizing a milestone in rebuilding residential areas that were destroyed during the occupation, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azertag.
Following this, President Aliyev inspected the reconstruction progress in the nearby village of Kangarli, where efforts are underway to restore vital infrastructure and housing for returning residents. His visit underscores the priority placed on resettling displaced citizens and revitalizing war-torn areas.
In addition to these initiatives, President Aliyev presided over several key inaugurations at Aghdam Industrial Park. The President opened a footwear manufacturing plant, which is expected to generate new jobs and boost economic activity in the district. He also inaugurated a plant producing electrical distribution equipment, sockets, and concrete substations, furthering the industrial capabilities of the region.
The day's events also saw the opening of the Automation and Telemechanics Systems Production Plant, a Wallpaper Manufacturing Plant, and a factory specializing in ventilation, fire-fighting equipment, and metal products. Each facility is poised to contribute to the district's economic revitalization, supporting both local employment and Azerbaijan's broader industrial growth.
Rounding out the day's activities, President Aliyev inaugurated a roofing materials plant, further expanding the range of industries within the Aghdam Industrial Park.
The President’s activities extended beyond industrial development. He participated in the inauguration of the Imarat Complex in Aghdam city, a landmark restoration project symbolizing the revival of cultural and historical heritage in the district. Additionally, the opening of the Aghdam City Hotel represents a significant enhancement of the city's infrastructure, aimed at promoting tourism and providing high-quality accommodation for visitors and residents.
President Aliyev also laid the foundation stone for the “Imarat” Stadium in Aghdam, a forthcoming project designed to improve sports and recreational facilities in the region. His visit to Khidirli village to inspect ongoing restoration work and the progress on the Aghdam-Asgaran-Khojaly-Khankendi highway further underscores the government's focus on rebuilding residential areas and improving regional connectivity.
These developments highlight the Azerbaijani government's efforts to restore the economic and social fabric of the Aghdam district, part of the broader strategy to reconstruct the liberated Karabakh region.
