Mass water poisoning hospitalises over 100 in Dagestan, Russia Majority are children
Magaramkent District, Dagestan — over 100 people, predominantly children, have been hospitalised following a mass poisoning incident caused by contaminated drinking water in Dagestan’s Magaramkent district.
Acting district head Feyruddin Ragimkhanov said that 110 individuals were admitted to local hospitals, with children making up the majority of cases, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The regional office of Rospotrebnadzor has confirmed multiple cases of intestinal infections among residents of five settlements: Magaramkent, Kuysun, Gilyar, Gaptsakh, and Verkhniy Tagirkent.
Authorities have launched an epidemiological investigation into the outbreak. Preliminary findings suggest the infections were transmitted through the water supply.
Local officials are urging residents to take precautionary measures while the investigation continues.
