Nobel prize winner faces life-threatening situation in Iranian prison
Nobel Peace Prize winner Narges Mohammadi is in critical condition following a heart attack in Zanjan prison and has not been granted access to specialised medical treatment, Iran International reports, citing the Narges Foundation.
On March 31, the foundation stated that Iranian authorities have refused to transfer Mohammadi to a hospital or allow a specialist to examine her, despite reports that she lost consciousness, suffered severe chest pain, and was advised to undergo an urgent angiography.
The organisation warned that her life is at risk while in prison and condemned ongoing restrictions on her basic rights, including limited phone access, a prohibition on meeting with lawyers, and requirements for visits to occur under the supervision of security personnel.
The foundation demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Mohammadi along with other political prisoners and detainees of conscience.
