President Aliyev: Armenia must give up territorial claims against Azerbaijan, Turkiye
Armenia must give up territorial claims against Azerbaijan and Turkiye, President Iham Aliyev said.
“Armenia must understand that it is impossible to remain isolated in an “island” regime in the region. Having established relations with Azerbaijan, while giving up territorial claims in relation to Azerbaijan and Turkiye, it should not impede the process of trilateral cooperation," Aliyev said on Friday at a meeting with participants in the international conference "South Caucasus: development and cooperation," Interfax -Azerbaijan reports.
The Azerbaijani president added that Armenia had previously rejected several proposals to hold trilateral negotiations at various levels, in particular at the level of foreign ministers, various specialists, as well as in the format of civil societies.
“Our partners are aware of this. No one knows the reasons for their refusal, because I think this approach is extremely unproductive. If we look at the future of the region, then the policy of Armenia defies any logic within the framework of regional security, cooperation, and development of the South Caucasus. Armenia must improve relations with Azerbaijan and Turkiye, while giving up territorial claims,” President Aliyev said.
