Reuters: Israel pushes for new conditions in Gaza ceasefire plan
Israel has proposed significant adjustments to the ceasefire plan and hostage exchange negotiations with Palestinian militants group Hamas.
The new conditions were presented during recent talks held in Cairo earlier in July, Caliber.Az writes, citing Reuters.
Israeli officials are now insisting that a mechanism be established to screen civilians moving from southern to northern Gaza. The aim is to ensure that individuals returning to northern Gaza do not support Hamas militants. This new requirement has been met with resistance from Hamas, which rejected the proposed condition.
Additionally, Israel has requested control over the border between Gaza and Egypt as part of the agreement. The proposal for border control is intended to enhance security measures and monitor movements more effectively.
The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office, the White House, and the Egyptian Foreign Ministry have yet to comment on the latest developments or the additional conditions put forth by Israel.
