Russia reaffirms support for Iran’s peaceful nuclear program
Russia will continue to support Iran’s right to develop peaceful nuclear technologies, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said, reiterating Moscow’s longstanding stance on the issue.
“As for the position of the Russian Federation on the international stage, you know that we have always firmly defended the rights of the Iranian people to independently develop, including in the field of peaceful nuclear technologies. We have never abandoned this position and do not intend to do so,” Grushko told reporters, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The deputy minister also emphasized that Russia-Iran relations are rooted in a rich historical experience, noting the depth and breadth of bilateral cooperation.
“There is no doubt about this. We have a strategic partnership agreement, we are neighbors in the region, and we participate in the Caspian ‘Five.’ Our trade, economic cooperation, and cultural ties are developing very well, and we will continue this work,” he said.
