Russia’s aviation agency classifies Mi-8 hard landing as accident

The hard landing of an Mi-8 helicopter operating a medical evacuation flight in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk region on September 20 has been classified as an aviation accident, the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) reports.

“Rosaviatsiya has classified the event as an accident. The Interstate Aviation Committee, with the participation of Rosaviatsiya’s Krasnoyarsk Territorial Administration, will investigate its causes,” the agency said in a statement.

A paramedic and a flight engineer sustained moderate injuries in the incident.

The investigation will be conducted in accordance with Russia’s rules for investigating aviation accidents and incidents involving civil aircraft.

Specialists will determine the causes of the accident and take measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
