Russian An-3 aircraft makes emergency landing on Sakhalin Island

A Russian An-3 aircraft made an emergency landing in a field on Sakhalin Island on August 21 and caught fire after the landing, according to the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s regional press service.

The aircraft made a hard landing near the village of Zonalnoye after a technical malfunction caused its engine to catch fire, the ministry said, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media. 

No casualties were reported.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the site, with 12 personnel and three vehicles from the Sakhalin Region Fire and Rescue Service involved in the response.

The fire at the crash site was later extinguished, according to authorities.
