Serbian president invites Georgian PM to Belgrade, hopes for free trade deal

16 June 2026 14:36

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has invited Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to visit Belgrade this autumn and expressed hope that the two countries will sign a free trade agreement during that period.

“I hope Prime Minister Kobakhidze will find time before Wine Vision, the major wine fair taking place in Belgrade from October 10 to 12, which I would describe as the third- or fourth-largest in Europe, to pay a bilateral visit to Belgrade, Serbia, and that by then, at the latest, we will sign a free trade agreement,” Vučić said at a press conference.

The Serbian leader stated on June 15 that Belgrade and Tbilisi had resolved virtually all outstanding issues in negotiations on the terms of the free trade agreement.

Vučić is scheduled to remain in Georgia until June 17. The visit marks the first trip by a Serbian president to Georgia.

The Serbian delegation includes Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarević and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Dragan Glamočić.
