The Armed Forces of Azerbaijan ousted the separatists from the country's Karabakh region in a one-day anti-terror operation from September 19 to 20.

The successful counter-terrorism measures of the Azerbaijani military freed the city of Khankendi, the town of Khojaly, as well as the Aghdara and Asgaran settlements, and the Sarsang Water Reservoir from decades-long Armenian occupation and separatist rule.

President Ilham Aliyev hoisted on October 15 the State Flag of Azerbaijan in all of the territories cleared of separatists.

The flag-raising ceremonies were the official reclamation of Azerbaijan's sovereignty over the entire territory of the Karabakh region.
