Trump appoints Ben Moss as White House staff secretary

US President Donald Trump has announced that Ben Moss will become Assistant to the President and White House Staff Secretary, effective September 2.

Moss will replace Will Scharf, who is moving to the position of White House Counsel.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised Scharf for his work as Staff Secretary, saying he had done a “truly outstanding job” and would be an “amazing White House Counsel”.

Trump also highlighted Moss’s experience, noting that he has served as Deputy Staff Secretary and previously worked as Policy Director to Vice-President JD Vance.

Moss began his government career as Vance’s General Counsel during Vance’s time in the US Senate. Before that, he worked as a law clerk for a federal appeals court judge and as a lawyer in private practice.

Trump described Moss as a top student at the University of Chicago Law School and praised him as a “Patriot” who loves the United States.

“He will do a great job as Staff Secretary,” Trump said, congratulating Moss on the appointment.
