Trump vows to resolve Gaza conflict in one day if elected

02 September 2024 11:11

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has pledged to resolve the long-standing Palestinian-Israeli conflict on his first day in office if he wins the 2024 election.

This bold assertion was made via his social media account on the X platform, where Trump criticized the current administration for its handling of the situation, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

"Our country and our incredible people are not safe under [US President] Joe Biden and will be even less safe under [US Vice President] Kamala Harris. This horror would never have happened if I were President, and it will stop the day I return to the Oval Office," Trump wrote.

His comments come in response to recent reports about the discovery of the bodies of six hostages in the Rafah area of the Gaza Strip, which has sparked outrage and protests across Israel.

Trump further accused Biden and Harris of making decisions that have "not only put lives at risk but are directly linked to unnecessary deaths that could have been avoided." He argued that the current administration's approach to the conflict has failed to ensure safety and stability in the region, suggesting that his leadership would bring an immediate end to the violence.

Donald Trump, who served as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021, is known for his unorthodox approach to foreign policy, particularly in the Middle East. During his presidency, he facilitated the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and several Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Morocco. Trump has often claimed that his diplomatic strategies were more effective than those of his predecessors and has criticized the Biden administration's foreign policy decisions.
