Ukrainian president vows to develop peace plan by November
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that an action plan for achieving peace in Ukraine is expected to be finalized by the end of November.
President Zelenskyy made these remarks in an interview for NHK, a Japanese state TV- and radio-company, Caliber.Az reports citing the Ukrainian media.
The president emphasized that he cannot entertain calls for a ceasefire while Russia continues to occupy Ukrainian territory.
According to NHK, he stated that Kyiv will soon begin detailed discussions with relevant countries regarding territorial integrity and other critical issues.
The president also announced plans to develop a comprehensive action plan for peace by the end of November. This statement was made during an interview in Kyiv on July 26.
Russian President Vladimir Putin authorised "a special military operation" against Ukraine on February 24, 2022 to eliminate what he called a serious threat, saying his aim was to demilitarise Russia's southern neighbour.
In an early morning address on state television, Putin said he had been left with no choice but to launch the operation, the scope of which was not immediately clear but appeared to go well beyond helping Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine.
