White House clarifies Trump’s statement on “unconditional surrender” of Iran
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explained President Donald Trump’s remark that the only possible agreement with Iran would be its “unconditional surrender.”
According to CNN, Leavitt said the statement refers to the moment when Trump, as Commander-in-Chief of the United States Armed Forces, determines that Iran no longer poses a threat to the country. She stressed that this would signify a de facto surrender, regardless of whether Tehran formally acknowledges it.
Leavitt added that during the “Epic Fury” operation, the United States and Israel eliminated over 50 leaders of the former regime, including the Supreme Leader.
“Frankly,” she went on, “they don’t have a lot of people to say that for them, because the United States and the State of Israel have completely wiped out near more than 50 leaders of the former terrorist regime, including the Supreme Leader himself.”
She also emphasised that Washington expects to achieve its objectives within 4–6 weeks and has sufficient stockpiles of weapons for operations against Iran.
