Zelenskyy pushes for end to Russia's war against Ukraine before winter

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine will do everything possible to bring Russia's war against the country to an end before the start of winter 2026.

Speaking during a meeting with Ukrainian ambassadors in Kyiv, Zelenskyy outlined what he described as a clear strategy aimed at compelling Russia to move toward peace as quickly as possible, Caliber.Az reports via Ukrainian media.

“This year, your task is to provide maximum support for the government's foreign policy efforts in relations with our partners,” Zelenskyy added.

He noted that it is impossible to predict exactly when diplomatic initiatives, Ukraine's long-range sanctions against Russia, military strikes, and sanctions imposed by Kyiv's partners will produce results. However, the Ukrainian leader stressed that the pressure must reach a level at which Russia has “no alternative but peace.”

“We will make every effort to ensure this happens before winter, in the autumn, but we clearly understand who we are dealing with,” Zelenskyy stated.
