Wildberries expands insurance coverage to include drone attacks on orders

07 August 2026 14:37

Russian e-commerce marketplace Wildberries has added drone attacks to the list of incidents covered by its seller insurance programme, allowing merchants to receive compensation for goods damaged or lost as a result of terrorist attacks, acts of sabotage and drone strikes.

The updated insurance rules, which came into effect on August 7, state that compensation will be capped at 50,000 roubles ($614) per item and 100,000 roubles ($1,228) per insurance claim, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

The coverage applies while goods are being delivered, stored at collection points and during the return process. However, the rules do not list storage at Wildberries warehouses as an insured period.

The company has also raised insurance rates. Depending on the product category, sellers will now pay between 1.96% and 5.6% of an item's value, compared with the previous range of 1.4% to 4%.

Wildberries launched its insurance service for sellers in February 2025. The changes come amid a series of drone attacks targeting marketplace warehouses in Russia, with incidents affecting both businesses and customers.
