WP: Netanyahu reported Israel's readiness to strike Iran without US involvement
Before the start of the conflict, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told U.S. President Donald Trump that Israel was prepared to attack Iran even if the United States did not participate, unnamed sources told The New York Times.
"The prime minister said Israel would be willing to strike Iran with or without U.S. involvement, though he wanted Trump to green-light the operation," the report said.
The publication notes that Netanyahu pushed Trump to join a war against Iran during visits to the White House in December and February. At the end of February, he informed the American president that Israel had precise information on the whereabouts of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his inner circle on February 28. Only after this did Trump decide to support the Israeli operation.
