The authorities of Azerbaijan are planning to increase contributions to regional and intercontinental cargo transportations by increasing the capacity of domestic railway lines.

The priority plan is to increase the volume of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway from one million ton to five million tonnes.

The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is the major line in the country's national grid.
