As of now Azerbaijani humanitarian aid to war-torn Ukraine totals over 37m dollars

Since the February 24, 2022, Russian war in Ukraine, the government of Azerbaijan has dispatched several batches of humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine to alleviate their hardships and help them cope with difficulties triggered by the cruel war.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said the first humanitarian cargo of medicines and other medical items reached Ukraine on February 27, 2022, three days after the February 24 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Up to late October 2023, the volume of Azerbaijani humanitarian aid to Ukraine exceeded 37 million dollars.

Azerbaijan dispatched another batch of energy equipment in the form of humanitarian aid on October 30, 2023. The equipment was purchased within the framework of $7.6 million allocated earlier by Azerbaijan for Ukraine, the latter’s ambassador in Baku, Vladislav Kanevskiyi, wrote in a Facebook post.

"The friendship of Azerbaijan and Ukraine has been tested by history. In the most difficult moments, our countries helped each other. Today we feel great support from Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people. This is both humanitarian aid and assistance in rebuilding the destroyed infrastructure in Ukraine. To date, the Azerbaijani government has already allocated more than $30 million for these purposes. We are very grateful that an additional amount of $7.6 million was allocated recently by order of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev," the ambassador tweeted.

Following the October 30 first batch of humanitarian aid to Ukraine under 7.6m dollars, the second batch comprising electrical equipment was dispatched on 21 November 2023. The humanitarian cargo includes more than 900,000 meters of electric cables and 18 transformers.
