Israel accuses female Bedouin teacher of spying for Iranian intelligence
A female Israeli teacher from the Bedouin village of Abu Quweider in the Negev desert has been arrested on suspicion of collaborating with Iranian intelligence agent.
In a joint operation by the Israeli police and its Security Agency (Shin Bet), 33-year-old Teani Abu Samkhan was detained back in June 2025, Caliber.Az reports citing Israeli Newsru.co.il.
The case was cleared for publication following the filing of a formal indictment. The corresponding investigative documents report that Teani Abu Samkhan maintained contact with Iranian agents over the past year and carried out various tasks for them, fully aware that she was acting under the direction and control of a hostile state's intelligence apparatus.
She reportedly used a special phone to communicate with her handlers.
Among other activities, she allegedly gathered intelligence on an Israeli Air Force base, took photographs of fighter jets taking off and documented other sensitive locations.
An indictment was filed against her in the Be’er Sheva District Court, charging her with contact with a foreign agent and transferring information to the enemy during wartime.
