US Air Force intercepts five planes in restricted zone during Trump visit

A US Air Force fighter jet was forced to escort five civilian aircraft that entered a no-fly zone imposed during US President Donald Trump’s visit to Houston, Texas, on August 28, 2026.

According to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), an F-16 was deployed after the aircraft violated airspace covered by a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over Houston.

“Safeguarding our shared airspace is a mission where every single aviator has a vital role to play,” said Royal Canadian Air Force Major-General David Moar, Director of NORAD Operations. “Multiple recent TFR violations in Texas is a clear signal that we must address this together and drive that number down immediately.”

NORAD urged pilots to check the latest information on airspace restrictions before departure.
