French prime minister rules out candidacy in presidential race
30 August 2026 11:11
French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced that he will not stand as a candidate in the upcoming presidential election in an interview with Le Parisien.
“I am not a candidate in the presidential election. I am not getting involved in the presidential campaign,” the politician said.
He stressed that his government is focused on addressing specific tasks rather than running an election campaign.
France’s presidential election is scheduled for spring 2027. Incumbent President Emmanuel Macron cannot seek another term, as he is currently serving his second consecutive term.
