Trump declared debate winner by 67% of viewers in CNN poll
After the June 27 presidential debate, a CNN flash poll indicated that 67% of viewers believed former US President Donald Trump emerged as the winner, while 33% favoured President Joe Biden's performance, Caliber.Az reports.
The poll highlighted a significant shift from CNN's 2020 survey, where 53% of viewers felt Biden won the final debate against Trump that year. Held in Atlanta, the debate showcased Biden grappling with responses, stumbling, and appearing low on energy, according to reports. Former CNN commentator Chris Cilizza described Biden's performance as disastrous, citing issues with coherence and delivery.
Biden's campaign attributed his showing to a cold, while Vice President Kamala Harris acknowledged a slow start but praised a strong finish. First Lady Jill Biden commended her husband's performance, emphasizing his grasp of facts and thorough answers.
Political commentators and social media reactions echoed the poll results, underscoring widespread perceptions of Trump's robust performance. CNN's survey, conducted via text message with 565 registered viewers, also indicated doubts among 57% about Biden's leadership capability, while 44% expressed similar concerns about Trump.
