UK, Germany, France forge plans for strengthening ties

UK’s new Prime Minister Keir Starmer has conducted initial discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

They focused on advancing London’s relations with Paris and Berlin, Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian media.

Starmer emphasised his intention, during his premiership, to elevate the UK-Germany relations to a new standard.

He highlighted opportunities for enhanced cooperation between the two nations in defense, security, and economic domains.

Starmer and Scholz underscored the significance of sustained support for Ukraine in their discussions.

In his talks with President Macron, the UK prime minister expressed his eagerness to strengthen cooperation with France.

The leaders deliberated on the upcoming NATO and European Political Community summits, stressing the importance of leveraging these occasions to address shared priorities. These include the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, climate challenges, advancements in artificial intelligence, immigration issues, and economic matters.

Keir Starmer became the prime minister of the United Kingdom following the recent elections. As leader of the Labour Party, he won the election and took office to lead the country forward, focusing on key issues such as Brexit, economic recovery, social reforms, and international relations.
