Azerbaijan's COP29 Operating Company achieves ISO 45001 certification
The Azerbaijan Operating Company for COP29 has successfully completed an international audit and received the esteemed ISO 45001 certification from Bureau Veritas Certification Holding SAS, a leading global certification body.
The ISO 45001 certification validates that the health and safety management system implemented by the Azerbaijan Operating Company aligns with top international benchmarks.
Through this certificate, COP29 once again confirms that Azerbaijan Operating Company implements systems that comply with international standards to ensure the health and safety of its employees, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
During a recent visit to Azerbaijan, Bureau Veritas representative Nahla Abid presented the certificate to Narmin Jarchalova, the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company.
COP29 is scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan this November, following a decision made during the COP28 plenary session held in Dubai on December 11, 2023. The event is expected to attract approximately 70,000 to 80,000 international participants over two weeks.
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which aims to mitigate adverse human impacts on the climate, was established at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. The Conference of the Parties (COP) serves as the decision-making body for the convention, which includes 198 member states. COP meetings are convened annually, with the inaugural meeting occurring in Berlin in 1995. The UNFCCC secretariat is located in Bonn, Germany.
