Putin open to holding Turkish-Syrian talks in Türkiye - Erdogan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is considering holding talks in Türkiye to normalize relations between Ankara and Damascus.
"We are ready to improve relations with Syria as soon as [Syrian President] Bashar al-Assad makes a step towards reconciliation. We were not enemies before; we met with Assad as a family. We can extend our invitations at any time and hope to restore Turkish-Syrian relations to their former level," Caliber.Az reports, citing Erdogan
Erdogan also noted that Putin supports the idea of holding the meeting in Türkiye and mentioned that the Iraqi Prime Minister has his own approaches to the issue. "We always talk about mediation, but why can't our own neighbors be mediators?" he added.
