ASTRA: Drone attack puts Russia’s energy storage plant at risk PHOTO / VIDEO
Several residential buildings were damaged in the city of Yelets in Russia’s Lipetsk region following a drone attack, with the affected homes located approximately two kilometres from the Energiya JSC.
According to open-source intelligence analysis by ASTRA, the damaged buildings are located on Yubileynaya Street (houses 19 and 21) and Cherokmanova Street (house 25), all situated roughly two kilometres from the Energia plant. The factory was identified as a potential target of the attack.
On April 14, the regional governor reported that one woman was killed and five other people were injured in the incident, with one of the victims in serious condition.
Energiya JSC specialises in the production of chemical power sources. Its products are widely used across multiple sectors, including the defence industry, civil aviation, maritime transport, and the energy sector. The plant also manufactures batteries for UAVs, as well as power units for aircraft and naval applications.
The facility has previously been targeted: in May 2025, one of its workshops caught fire following a strike, injuring nine workers. Another reported attack on the plant took place in January 2026.
