Azerbaijan offers condolences to Türkiye over deadly earthquake
Azerbaijan has paid condolences to Turkiye over the powerful earthquake that killed over 80 people in the early hours of February 6.
In his message to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that "we were deeply saddened by the news of numerous casualties and destruction as a result of a powerful earthquake in Kahramanmaras, which was felt in many parts of fraternal Türkiye", Azertag reports.
"On behalf of the people of Azerbaijan and on my own behalf, I express my deepest condolences to you, the families and relatives of those killed and the brotherly people of Türkiye in connection with the tragedy, wish the injured a speedy recovery and elimination of the consequences of the earthquake," he wrote.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry also expressed condolences to Türkiye over the deadly earthquake, stressing that "Azerbaijan always stands by Türkiye", APA reports.
Azerbaijani Defence Minister Zakir Hasanov also offered his condolences to Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar, Caliber.Az reports.
