Azerbaijani fields to be put to use through auctions, tenders

In Azerbaijan, non-metallic deposits will be put to use through auctions, ore deposits - through tenders.

The decision was stipulated by amendments to the presidential decree "On state regulation of the use of subsoil of the land,” Caliber.Az reports.

According to the amendments, the tender for the use of subsoil will be open or closed, and the auction will be open only.

Legal entities and individuals of Azerbaijan, as well as foreign countries, regardless of the type of ownership and organisational-legal form will be able to participate in the open tender and auction. Only persons invited for this purpose can take part in a closed tender. The closed tender shall be held in the following cases:

- if geological information about the site is considered secret;

- if the site is used for the extraction of radioactive raw materials;

- if the participants are defence enterprises implementing the conversion program.
