EBRD boosts partnership with Azerbaijani banks to support local business growth
Nataly Mouravidze, Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) office in Azerbaijan, has emphasised the expansion of partnerships with Azerbaijani financial institutions aimed at enhancing their capacity to lend to local businesses and promote inclusive economic growth.
Her remarks were featured in the EBRD’s quarterly bulletin on Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
“At our annual meeting in London in May 2025, we were pleased to welcome an Azerbaijani delegation to participate in a session on ‘Investment Prospects of the Country,’ which highlighted Azerbaijan’s growing role as a regional hub for green growth and connectivity,” Mouravidze noted.
As of May 31, 2025, the EBRD’s current loan portfolio in Azerbaijan stands at €991 million, supporting 34 projects.
Overall, the EBRD has invested more than €3.783 billion in Azerbaijan across 198 projects, with cumulative disbursements totalling €3.132 billion.
In 2024, the EBRD provided financing for 8 projects in Azerbaijan, totalling €199 million, representing a 27.56% increase (€43 million) compared to the previous year.
