Azerbaijan’s agricultural output surges 38%, minister says

Agricultural production in Azerbaijan has increased by 38% over the past decade, while output in the fisheries sector has nearly tripled, Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov said.

Mammadov made the remarks during a panel discussion at the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku, Caliber.Az reports, per local media.

He said Azerbaijan has made significant progress in developing its agricultural sector over the past 10 years and has strengthened its position in international markets. The country has also achieved self-sufficiency in a number of high-value agricultural products, according to the minister.

Mammadov stressed that increasing production alone is not the main objective of agricultural policy.

“It is necessary to use available resources more efficiently, build a more productive and sustainable agricultural system, and produce goods with higher added value. This is precisely how Azerbaijan approaches the development of agriculture,” he said.
