Montenegrin official: Azerbaijan is among country's key investors

Azerbaijan is one of the most important investors in Montenegro’s economy, Montenegrin Tourism Minister Simonida Kordić said at the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku.

Kordić highlighted the Portonovi tourist complex as one of Montenegro’s major projects built and operated by Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports per domestic media.

She said Montenegro had significantly strengthened its international standing at the multilateral level, currently holding the chairmanship of the European Commission of the UN World Tourism Organization and serving as vice president of the European Travel Commission.

Kordić also noted that Montenegro was on track to join the European Union, saying these factors provided stability that was particularly important for business.

She added that Montenegro’s economy, especially the tourism sector, was recording steady growth in both its investment portfolio and revenue.
