Baku, Damascus hold talks on investment, energy and infrastructure

Azerbaijan and Syria discussed prospects for expanding economic and investment ties during a meeting between Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov and Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Mohammed Nidal al-Shaar.

According to Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers, as cited by Caliber.Az, the two officials noted positive momentum in bilateral relations and highlighted the role of regular contacts between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Syrian transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa in creating a basis for deeper political dialogue and broader cooperation.

The two sides pointed to Azerbaijani natural gas supplies to Syria as a tangible example of economic cooperation. They also highlighted humanitarian initiatives, including a project to restore educational infrastructure in Syria with support from the Azerbaijani government.

The talks covered a broad range of potential areas for further cooperation, including trade and economic relations, investment, energy, infrastructure and humanitarian projects.
