Azerbaijani president highlights strong potential for partnership with US
At a meeting with participants of the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev expressed optimism about the country’s relationship with the United States, emphasising the potential for deepening partnership ties.
“We see great potential for strong partnership relations with the United States. We received very positive messages from Washington. The messages from Azerbaijan were also very positive. We have a great history of partnership,” President Aliyev said, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He also acknowledged the active role of U.S. President Donald Trump in regional diplomacy, particularly regarding the South Caucasus conflict.
“President Trump is actively involved in the processes in the South Caucasus. He is doing a great job in order to help Azerbaijan and Armenia to find a solution to a long-lasting conflict. I think that we will have good news in the future,” the president underlined.
“We are very grateful to U.S. President Donald Trump for his efforts to help Azerbaijan and Armenia ultimately reach an agreement,” said Aliyev.
“Although he (the U.S. President – ed.) is engaged with broader global security issues, he still keeps the situation in the South Caucasus in his sights. We in Azerbaijan are certainly pleased that he won – for many reasons. And of course, we wish him success in seeing things through to the end, especially when it comes to draining the Washington swamp – down to the very bottom,” the president added.
Held under the theme “Digital Pathways: Strengthening Information and Media Resilience in the Age of AI,” the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum has brought together approximately 140 international guests from 52 countries, including representatives of over 30 news agencies, 7 international organisations, and around 80 media institutions.
The forum will run until July 21 and features panel discussions, expert sessions, and field visits to Aghdam and Lachin, highlighting the post-conflict recovery and reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan's liberated territories.
