Bayraktar TB2s belonging to Poland receive powerful radar upgrade PHOTO
Poland’s Bayraktar TB2s will be equipped with synthetic aperture radars (SAR) from the Italian manufactured Leonardo and will become the first country to integrate the Bayraktar TB2 with SAR radars into their defence.
According to the Turkish SavunmasanayiST website, the Italian company Leonardo will supply two multifunctional radar Osprey 30 AESA to be used on the Bayraktar TB2, exported to Poland.
These radars will greatly enhance exploration, reconnaissance and surveillance (ISR) capabilities and situational awareness of TB2 UAVs, as well as enable them to conduct operations in cloudy weather.
The Osprey 30 AESA radar is a special X-band light onboard radar with phase scanning (AFAR) antennas.
According to the Italian manufacturer, the radar has a maximum range of 200 nautical miles (approx. 370 km) and can detect various types of targets, including marine ones.
The radar can be used in a stationary or mobile configuration and includes modes such as "air-to-ground" and "sea-to-air".
