China urges Taliban government to fight terrorism in practice

Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang has announced the need to fight terrorism decisively at a meeting with Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Amir Khan Muttaqi in Islamabad.

Their meeting took place on May 6, according to TASS.

"You must keep your promise and fight terrorism in reality, deliver decisive blows against terrorists, including the East Turkistan Islamic Movement, and ensure the security of Chinese citizens and organisations based in Afghanistan," the Chinese Foreign Ministry's website quoted Qin Gang as saying.

According to the Chinese foreign minister, Beijing respects Afghanistan's sovereignty, independence as well as territorial integrity and will deepen cooperation with it in all areas.
"We will help Afghanistan achieve self-sufficiency, peace, stability, development and prosperity as soon as possible," he stressed.

Qin Gang noted that China and Afghanistan "always support each other, maintain mutual understanding and mutual trust".

"Whatever the situation in the world or in the region, China will always stand with the Afghan people and support the development path of your country in accordance with its national specificity," he concluded.
