Trump plans to offload Tesla over dispute with Musk
US President Donald Trump is planning to sever all ties with tech billionaire Elon Musk — including parting with the red Tesla he purchased earlier this year to show support for the embattled entrepreneur.
A White House official confirmed to The Post that Trump is now looking to sell or give away the vehicle, which is currently parked in the White House lot and had been intended for staff use, Caliber.Az reports.
The president made headlines on March 11 when he publicly bought the Tesla at full price, framing the purchase as a gesture of solidarity with Musk, who at the time was facing a wave of nationwide criticism and reported vandalism targeting Tesla properties.
However, the relationship between the two high-profile figures has since soured dramatically. The fallout began when Musk publicly criticised Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill,” a major legislative initiative backed by the president. The dispute escalated into a war of words, culminating in Musk calling for Trump’s impeachment and advocating for the formation of a new political party to rival the GOP.
