Erdogan invites citizens to Turkish coup attempt anniversary event

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has invited all citizens to the event, which will be held in Istanbul's Sarachane Square at 17.30 on July 15. 

"We will be at Istanbul's Sarachane Square on the anniversary of July 15, when we turned the coup attempt into a great epic, not allowing evil hands to achieve their insidious goals against our Homeland. I invite all citizens to a meeting where we will honour the memory of the glorious struggle and our martyrs," Anadolu quotes President Erdogan as saying on his social media account.

On the night of July 15-16, 2016, a group of Turkish Armed Forces soldiers, members of the Gulen movement, attempted an armed seizure of power in the country.
