EU needs migrants for economic growth Central Bank Council member says
Fabio Panetta, European Central Bank governing council member, has highlighted the essential role of labor migrants in driving economic growth within the European Union.
Panetta emphasized that managing the legal inflow of migrants is a "rational response" to economic demands, provided that it is done in a regulated manner to address production needs without disrupting social stability, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Panetta underscored the importance of integrating migrants into both the education system and the labor market to fully leverage their contributions. He also pointed out Italy’s structural economic weaknesses, noting that effective migration policy is crucial for addressing these issues and achieving sustained economic growth.
Additionally, Panetta stressed that Italy’s primary economic goal is to reduce the public debt-to-GDP ratio. He argued that this objective can be reached primarily through fostering economic growth, which migrants can significantly support.
