Ex-Armenian PM calls for new war with Azerbaijan Even a single head of revanchist hydra can be dangerous

27 December 2022 17:41

Revanchist sentiments are rising in Armenia expressed by virtual "liberators of Karabakh". Despite occasional calls for peace in the Armenian political establishment, destructive rhetoric from both the ruling powers and the opposition is increasingly common. It is obvious that they do not draw certain conclusions from history and are still unwilling to come to terms with the reality established in the region as a result of the 44-day war.

Today an Armenian media outlet, which is considered to be the mouthpiece of the Sargsyan RPA, quoted a provocative statement by Khosrov Harutyunyan, the former Prime Minister of Armenia. According to Harutyunyan, whose parents must have been fans of the Azerbaijani poet Nizami, "Sunday's rally in Karabakh marked the start of a new stage of the national struggle".

"The importance of the rally held on December 25, besides manifesting the unbreakable will of the people of Artsakh to resist the provocations of the enemy, is that the people of Artsakh proclaimed publicly their national vow to remain faithful to their cherished pledge and their unbreakable commitment to statehood and liberate Karabakh. In this context, the statement was undoubtedly historic. Moreover, this statement of the Armenians of Artsakh launched a new stage of the liberation struggle," Khosrov Harutyunyan wrote on his social media page.

The Armenian people have no luck with prime ministers. As a result of dancing in Shusha and provocations of the current prime minister, Armenia lost over 5,000 people in the autumn of 2020, and those who were lucky enough to escape death at the hands of an Azerbaijani soldier risk being finished off by former Prime Minister Harutyunyan.

We could call this a kind of corporate solidarity among Armenian prime ministers, but this kind of 'unity' is leading Armenia towards disaster and more death. Moreover, Harutyunyan himself admits that "this struggle begins in an incomparably difficult and unfavourable geopolitical and security environment for Armenians". And indeed, after its defeat in the Second Karabakh war, what can Armenia oppose to Azerbaijan today? If this question is rhetorical for Armenians, Azerbaijan knows the answer - nothing! Of course, Harutyunyan and others like him perfectly understand that the Armenian side is capable only to tell sob stories to the international community, but despite this revanchists like Harutyunyan continue pushing their people to the abyss. Indeed, it is clear that in the case of an escalation of hostilities between Armenia and Azerbaijan, neither the ex-Prime Minister nor his close relatives will go to war. On the other hand, there is nothing to be surprised about. It is typical for all Armenian leaders to throw their inadequate compatriots on the grenade, both in Armenia itself and in the zone of temporary responsibility of the RPC. The people of Ruben Vardanyan not only brought kids to the rally in Khankendi, but on December 26 they held a flashmob with the participation of 700 karate children at the stadium in Khankendi, demanding the "opening" of Lachin road. The poor children were freezing in their kimonos and did not understand what those morons were demanding from them.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan remembers well the First and Second Karabakh wars and how many people died in them. Therefore, unlike the Armenian side, Baku is trying to resolve the issues diplomatically in order to avoid further losses. And this is despite the fact that the Azerbaijani Army is capable of clearing the zone of responsibility of the RPC from Vardanyan, Harutyunyan, Balasanyan, and other criminals, who are putting spoke in the wheels of the peace process, in the shortest possible time and without any special efforts. And this is an undeniable fact. It would seem that developments in recent years should have made Armenia finally understand that it is of no interest to anyone since it has nothing to offer to the world but demagoguery and perpetual howls. Admittedly, in the first months after the end of the Second Karabakh war, it seemed to me that Armenia, defeated on the battlefield, would finally give up its revanchist aspirations. But further events showed that even one remaining head of the hydra could be dangerous.

As we can see, the calls for revanchism in Armenia, despite its deplorable state, do not stop. The talking heads, with their provocative speeches, are trying in every possible way to finally destroy the Armenian people and the Armenian statehood. Although, they should understand that the Armenians of Armenia and the Armenians of Karabakh have only one path to prosperity - reconciliation with the Azerbaijani people. In the case of Armenia, a peace treaty without preconditions will revive the economy of the pariah country, raising it from its knees. And in the case of the Armenian ethnic population of Karabakh, accepting Azerbaijani citizenship will bring security in addition to prosperity. But is it necessary for people like the ex-Prime Minister of Armenia, who call for an armed struggle? The answer is obvious here…
