Erdogan expresses optimism for renewed Russia-Ukraine peace talks on Turkish soil
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan conveyed his hope that Türkiye will once again serve as a pivotal venue for peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, signaling a continued commitment to facilitating dialogue aimed at ending the ongoing conflict.
Speaking after a Cabinet meeting in Ankara, Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s role as a mediator, referencing the previous rounds of negotiations held in Istanbul, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
“Just as the negotiation table (between Russia and Ukraine) was established in Istanbul, the peace table will also be established in Türkiye in the not-too-distant future, and this bloody war will come to an end,” he declared.
The statement comes in the wake of the third round of renewed peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, which took place in Istanbul on July 23, following earlier meetings in May and June.
