Kazakh president dismisses labour minister Jaqypova

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has dismissed Svetlana Jaqypova from her position as Minister of Labour and Social Protection.

A presidential decree announced that Jaqypova, who had served as minister since September 2023, was relieved of her duties, Caliber.Az reports per Kazakh media.

Jaqypova previously held several senior roles within the ministry, serving as deputy minister from 2013 to 2019.

In 2020, she was appointed deputy director of the State Social Insurance Fund of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection. Between 2020 and 2023, she also worked as a national expert on social development for the UN Development Programme.

In June 2023, she became the presidential commissioner for the rights of socially vulnerable groups in Kazakhstan.

President Tokayev appointed her as Minister of Labour and Social Protection on September 2, 2023.
