Türkiye detains 151 suspects in nationwide operations against FETÖ

Türkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 151 suspects were apprehended and 82 arrested in coordinated operations targeting FETÖ across 46 provinces. The operations, which also placed 54 suspects under judicial supervision, are ongoing for the remaining individuals.

Minister Yerlikaya detailed that the suspects were active within the organization’s judicial, military, educational, student, and other clandestine networks, Caliber.Az reports.

“It was determined that the suspects were users of the encrypted messaging application ByLock, were sheltered in safe houses referred to as ‘Gaybubet Evi’ by the organization, and were coded to gain advantages in exams,” he said.

The nationwide operations were carried out under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security’s Counterterrorism Department (TEM), organized crime units (KOM), and intelligence branches. Key operations were conducted in 46 provinces, including Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Adana, Bursa, Gaziantep, Samsun, Konya, Şanlıurfa, Trabzon, and Tekirdağ.

Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the significance of the operation, noting: “The struggle against FETÖ and all its structures, which threaten the unity and integrity of the nation and the peace of citizens, will continue with determination.” He also congratulated all units involved in the successful operation.

Authorities reported that suspects communicated via payphones, maintained contact with senior figures within the organization, and were coded to receive preferential treatment during interviews connected to investigations into exam question leaks. The Ministry stressed that the operations are part of an ongoing effort to dismantle FETÖ’s clandestine networks.
