Armenia set to resume investigations into old political, religious cases
27 January 2026 12:49
Armenian law enforcement authorities are expected to resume investigations into a number of high-profile cases involving former government officials and members of the clergy.
As Caliber.Az reports, the Armenian newspaper Zhoghovurd, says that security agencies have received an internal directive instructing them to reopen previously suspended high-profile cases and to adopt concrete decisions within established timeframes.
The publication adds that, in the run-up to the elections, large-scale investigative activities may be launched or revived. These could include interrogations, official meetings, renewed legal proceedings, and other procedural measures within the framework of ongoing criminal cases.
