At least 11 people were killed and 12 others wounded after gunmen opened fire at a football field in Salamanca, a town in Mexico’s central Guanajuato state, on January 25, local authorities reported.
The attack occurred in a residential neighbourhood, prompting security forces to launch a manhunt for the perpetrators, according to a statement from the mayor’s office, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

Earlier on the night of January 24, authorities also discovered four bags containing human remains in Salamanca.
Guanajuato, an important industrial region with several popular tourist spots, continues to be Mexico’s deadliest state due to ongoing gang-related turf wars, according to official homicide statistics.
