Turkish, French FMs discuss regional crises in Ankara meeting
Foreign ministers of Türkiye and France, Hakan Fidan and Jean-Noël Barrot, met in Ankara to discuss key bilateral and multilateral cooperation issues, TRT Haber reported.
The main topics of the talks included trade, economic and political relations, cooperation within the European Union and NATO, and ways to resolve the current impasse in Türkiye-EU relations, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
The ministers discussed trade and economic cooperation, political collaboration, and joint efforts within the EU and NATO. Special attention was given to updating the Customs Union agreements and liberalising the visa regime.
The sides exchanged views on developments in Ukraine, Syria, the Gaza Strip, and Iran, and discussed measures to maintain ongoing efforts in the fight against ISIS. Particular focus was placed on the latest stage of the Russia-Ukraine negotiations.
According to Barrot, the Rafah crossing point will open in the coming days, allowing humanitarian aid to be delivered to the enclave without restrictions.
The minister also emphasised France’s support for normalisation processes between Armenia and Türkiye, and between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
