Moscow decries Stockholm’s inaction over drone attacks on Russian embassy

Moscow has called on Sweden to take measures to prevent further drone attacks on the Russian Embassy, but Stockholm has so far failed to act, Artem Studennikov, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s First European Department, said.

Speaking to RIA Novosti, Studennikov noted that Moscow sends notes to Sweden’s Foreign Ministry after each incident, demanding that those responsible for the attacks and their organisers be identified and that similar incidents be prevented.

“So far, the competent Swedish authorities have demonstrated either their inability or unwillingness to do so,” the diplomat stressed.

Studennikov previously said that Russian diplomatic facilities in Sweden had been targeted by drones 22 times since 2024. 

The incidents, which have continued since 2024, have included drones dropping paint and other substances onto Russian diplomatic premises in Stockholm. Swedish police have confirmed several such cases as acts of vandalism, although no perpetrators have been arrested in a number of reported incidents.

One such incident occurred in November 2024, when an unidentified drone dropped paint on the grounds of the Russian Embassy in Stockholm. The incident prompted Moscow to demand an investigation, while the Swedish Foreign Ministry acknowledged the seriousness of the vandalism at the diplomatic facility.
